"Amra88": A Testament to Enduring Friendship and Social Commitment

Amra88
“Amra88” is more than just a numerical identifier; it represents a vibrant and deeply connected community of individuals who appeared for their SSC (Secondary School Certificate) or equivalent examinations in 1988. At its heart, the organization serves as a joyful platform for these alumni to reconnect, rekindle old friendships, and relive the cherished, golden memories of their youth. It facilitates reunions, get-togethers, and regular communication, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support that has transformed acquaintances into an extended family.
"Amra88" has successfully evolved from a simple alumni association into a remarkable force for good. It stands as a testament to how enduring friendships, when channeled collectively, can create a profound positive impact on society. It beautifully blends the joy of shared history with a strong sense of social responsibility, making it an inspiring model of community engagement.
However, the scope of “Amra88” extends significantly beyond nostalgic gatherings and personal connections. The organization is deeply committed to humanitarian and social welfare, actively engaging in various initiatives to support the less fortunate. These commendable efforts include providing essential warm clothing to vulnerable individuals during harsh winters, offering educational assistance and materials to underprivileged but meritorious students to help secure their future, and extending timely aid and relief supplies to victims of natural disasters like floods or cyclones. Furthermore, they often organize or participate in blood donation drives and health awareness programs.
Every year in winter, especially in the northern part of the country and other cold-stricken areas, when severe cold waves occur, the members of “Amra88” spontaneously come forward. With their own financial donations and the help of well-wishers, they collect warm clothes, such as blankets, sweaters, shawls, etc. Then, according to a specific plan, some members of the group go to remote areas or underprivileged areas of the city and hand over these clothes to the cold-stricken people. They not only distribute clothes, but also look after the helpless elderly and children and spend some time with them, which gives them mental strength. Through this initiative, “Amra88” proves that friendship is not limited to themselves, but can also extend to the service of humanity.
“Amra88″‘s educational support
“Amra88” believes that education is the backbone of the nation. Therefore, they help underprivileged talented students continue their studies. At different times, they distribute educational materials (such as notebooks, pens, geometry boxes) to school students who are in financial crisis. In addition, they have also taken the initiative to provide one-time or monthly scholarships to some students who are particularly talented but financially insolvent. Through this program, they try to ensure that the potential future of any student is not destroyed financially. Some of the members also personally help such students with mentorship or education.
“Amra88” helps those affected by disasters and hunger
Description: Standing by the people affected by floods, cyclones or any other natural disaster is one of the humanitarian works of “Amra88”. They arrive in disaster-hit areas as soon as possible with relief materials, such as dry food, pure water, food saline, and essential medicines. Sometimes they also distribute cooked food. Also, during the crisis like the Corona pandemic, when many people were unemployed, “Amra88” stood by several poor and low-income families in their difficult times by distributing food items (rice, pulses, oil, potatoes, etc.). This selfless service of theirs has brought smiles to the faces of many helpless people.

Initiatives in Blood Donation and Health Awareness
Description: Inspired by the mantra “Blood donation saves lives”, the members of “Amra88” regularly participate in blood donation programs and encourage others to do the same. They have a blood donor pool among themselves, through which they help in arranging blood quickly in case of emergency. Apart from this, they sometimes organize small health awareness campaigns or discussions at the local level, where people are made aware of general hygiene, first aid and prevention of various diseases. If a member or someone in their family falls ill, this organization stands by them by providing necessary information, advice and in some cases, financial assistance for treatment.
